Land Rover Repair: Speed limit warning, dashboard switch, upper button

Question
I'm sorry I think you misunderstood the question: Pressing the button on the indicator handle will not turn the sound off when reaching 120, below 120 everything works as it should. When I press the alarm button when going over 115-120 the message in the display says: "speed limiter off"
but the alarm still sounds and the message 'maximum speed" comes back in a second. I don't care for the function anyway, so disabling it altogether would be an option for me too. Hope you have an answer.

Dear John,

On my 1996 p38 4.0SE range rover, I don't seem to be able to shut off the speed limit warning when I go over 120 km/h. I can shut it off when it is set to, for instance, 80 kmh and exceeding 80, but at 120 it comes back with the warning on the display and the very annoying sound. I would be grateful if you had a solution, even just stopping the sound would be good.

The upper button on the directional lever should turn it off and on.  Check your owner's manual

Answer
OK, there are two possibilities, both of which require you to find a knowledgable shop with an Autologic or T4

1) You can turn off the trip computer aand all of the functions including speed limiter will vanish

2) You can test and find a bad switch in the dashboard switch group

3) You may actually have a bad computer.  If so the only options are going to be disable it or replace it.

If you want an alternative to the dealer look on www.rangerovers.net for a list of shops
