Land Rover Repair: 2000 disco II misfire, spark plug wires, bench tests

Question
Thanks a bunch.  Please send me the techsheet.  Have you got anything on programming a keyless entry remote for a 2000 disco?

-----Question-----
I have 2000 disco that was misfiring.  I had the coil pack replaced and it ran fine for a couple of days then started misfiring again but not as bad.  I read some posts and decided to view the spark plug wires while the engine was running in the dark.  It looks like a fireworks show under the hood.  I'm going to replace the spark plug wires.  Can you recommend a brand?  And is there anything else I should be aware of?  Thanks for your help.

Hi wade,

I would go with magnecor wires:  www.magnecor.com

high heat resistancy is what you want for your Disco.  It's what I use.  They are more expensive but they last longer than most others I've tried.

For my '95 Disco, I use blue 8mm Magnecor ELECTROSPORTS Series cables. Should work for your Disco II.

Installing the wires on a DiscoII is not as easy as you would think.  There are some components that have to be removed in order to complete the installation.  In this case, words are not enough.  If you send me an email, I reply with a techsheet on how it's done.

Best of luck,

JohnMc

NB:  Do you think the original coilpack was fault-free?  I hope you got to keep it.  If so, have a local mechanic do some bench tests to see if it's worth keeping as a backup.

Answer
Hi Wade,

sorry, no data for reprogramming key fob for DII's.  You could try synching the remote:  press the lock button 4 times while close to your Disco.  Otherwise, it's the dealer that you have to visit.

Send me an email and I'll send you the techsheet for the wires installation.  This site does not support graphics.
