Land Rover Repair: Land Rover will not come out of parking gear, land rover discovery, beep sound

Question
I have a 2001 Land Rover Discovery II SE, I started my car the other day (it did start with no problems) and it would not come out of the parking gear.  There is a light that comes on “DIFFERENTIAL LOCK – RED” and a beep sound (indicter) comes on.  I called the dealership that morning
and they stated that this year vehicle does not have a Differential lock on it.
The other day I checked my fuses out (underneath the stearing wheel) and found that fuse #25 (15 amp, Brake lights, Reverse lights) is burnt out.  After replacing the fuse the vehicle was fine until I shifted to reverse and the fuse blew out again, but if I went pass reverse (automatic transmission) to any other gears the fuse would not burn out.  If I went back to reverse the fuse would burn out again and I would be unable to switch gears  I hope this info helps.
Respectfully,
Julio

Answer
You have a short in the reverse lights.  Remove the bulbs and see if the fuse blows.  If not, replace the bulbs.  If it blows with no bulbs, the problem is in the wires or the lamp socket.  Look at them closely.

Fix the short and your shift problem will be repaired
