Land Rover Repair: Suggested Oil on older Disco, snowmobile trailers, grade oil

Question
I own a 1995 Land Rover petrol Discovery with over 156,000 miles which include many miles hauling boats and snowmobile/trailers.  Engine continues to run great, but may be hearing the beginning of some lifter noise.  What would you suggest for my regular oil changes-going to synthetic, using a heavier grade oil or just continue with regular grade oil.  Thanks in advance for your anticipated expert opinion.

I would suggest Mobil 1 1550.
