Land Rover Repair: 2003 Freelander wont start and makes continuous clicking noise, air suspension, john robinson

The night before my check engine light came on.  The next morning the vehicle would not start.  When I tried to turn the engine over I would just hear a continuous clicking noise.  I assume it is the starter but wanted a second opinion before going after it.  Any help would be appreciated

My specialty is the air suspension. I will try, but John Robinson can give you a much better answer.

It sounds to me like the battery is dying.  A weak battery won't be able to engage the starter (or roll the engine) and the starter will just click.  The CEL might have come on because of the battery, possibly even the alternator went out.

Check with John to be sure.
