Question
I was repairing oil from rear differential in my discovery 2003 year/ and when i screw out the bleeder i saw there a lot of metal shavings and there also was a pin-roll-spring-tension. The quastion is: Is it necessary to change the rear- differencial or it is possible to repair it? Is the rear-differencial the waek point of Disco2?
I would be very pleased if you answer my quastions.
Best wishes,

Answer
From what you've said it sounds like you've got a differential about to fail.  Here in the USA we generally replace them rather than fix them because units are available from Land Rover for under $500 for most models.

You only replace the center portion; the housing and wheels etc remain in the car.

The rear diff is not a particular weak point.  We don't see many failures.
