Land Rover Repair: defender 300 tdi engine cutting out, defender 300 tdi, shaft position

Question
Hi Kalani, Can you help please?

My 10 year old Defender 90, which is serviced by Land Rover regularly, has started to cut out whilst driving along. It doesn't matter whether driving fast or slow, or whether the engine is hot or cold.
The engine can just cut and you have to pull in for about 10 minutes then you can restart it as though nothing has happened.

It has just had it's full service and timing belt changed which included fuel filter change but was cutting out before and carries on cutting out after the service. The dealers haven't a clue what the cause is.

You never know when it'll cut out and you could drive 80 miles before it happends again.
Any suggestions please?

Answer
well it sounds like cam or crank position sensors are going bad the reason the dealer cant find it is because they're stuped i probly shouldnt say that but anyway they will only catch it if it hapens in front of they're face. try crank shaft position sensor first
