Land Rover Repair: question not answered, spark plug wires, exhaust valves

Question
Hi sorry to bother you but i submitted a question about 5 days ago about my 2001 range rover 4.6 hse and have not recieved an answer yet and was told to contact you if it's been more than 3 days, just wondering if you had a chance to look at it thanks

Answer
Hi Josh,

actually, you don't really have to contact me.  The AllExperts system is automated...if I had not answered you question in 3 days I am sent a reminder automatically.

Here's the answer I gave:

Hi Josh,

could be worn or faulty spark plug wires, faulty spark plugs, clogged fuel filter, faulty coilpack. All of these you could possibly replace yourself.

If it's more serious, it could be trouble with the sticking exhaust valves, a common problem with LR engines. It could also be fuel pump problems, MAF sensor failure or worse.

IF you are sure your wires and plugs are old then you should change them. Most local garages can change the fuel filter for you.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
