Land Rover Repair: Engine feels like its missing, range rover hse, spark plug wires

Question
Hello my question is regarding my 2001 Range Rover HSE 4.6, The problem I'm having with it is most regonized when you first start the vehicle, it starts fine but if you press on the gas the rpm's wont go up,It puts like its not getting fuel or not all cylinders are firing, it takes usually about 5 min before i can leave, it feels like it has lost alot of power when driving as well.
I can best explain this problem by my car knowledge as it feels like i have a clogged fuel filter or that the car only is running on 6 cylinders at times like its miss firing, is this a common problem? I would rather not spend thousands of dollars at the dealership if there is something I can do myself..Thank you hope to here from you soon.

Answer
Hi Josh,

could be worn or faulty spark plug wires, faulty spark plugs, clogged fuel filter, faulty coilpack.  All of these you could possibly replace yourself.

If it's more serious, it could be trouble with the sticking exhaust valves, a common problem with LR engines. It could also be fuel pump problems, MAF sensor failure or worse.

IF you are sure your wires and plugs are old then you should change them.  Most local garages can change the fuel filter for you.

Best of luck,
