Land Rover Repair: Discovery water leak - any ideas?!, head gasket leak, coolant hoses

Question
Hi John, I have a 2001 Disc Series II, 58,000 miles, have owned for 10 months. Today a coolant leak started. Is dripping from rear of block on left (driver's side). I can't see source. Drips when car is running (perhaps a cup in 20 minutes right now). Continues to drip for 10 - 15 minutes after car shut off. Does not drip when heater is on and engine off. Is this the dreaded head gasket leak? Are there any coolant hoses behind engine against firewall? Car has never registered hot. We drive conservatively. Previous owners did as well. There have been no coolant problems previously with car. Head has never been removed. Took a couple trips to snow this year. Car sat in 25 degree weather for 2 days - nothing extreme. There is plenty of antifreeze in mixture.
many thanks, Tom

Answer
The most common cause of leaking from the rear of the DII engine is an intake leak.  You may be able to verify lift by looking on a lift.

As you suggested, a head gasket is another possibility but less likely.

And the heater hoses are on the right side of the motor.
