Land Rover Repair: discovery abs/TC/Hill Decline dash light, speed sensors, wheel speed

Question
I took my 2001 discovery to the delear to check and advise on the ABS, TC, & Hill Decline dash light. They told me the reason was because I have after market brake pads & rotter. They quoted me $1400 to repace rotters and brake which would take care of these lights. IS THERE any other inexpensive way to repair this problem.

Answer
We sometimes find that aftermarket brake parts will interfere with the front wheel speed sensors.  However, I have never had to change all the parts.  Swapping the pads alone has always worked for us.

Further, it is more likely that you actually have a problem with one of the brake sensors or hubs.

However, unless you can find a shop with the specialist LR test system (needed to talk to the ABS and TC system) you may be stuck with the dealer.
