Land Rover Repair: 00 Discovery II acts as if its flooded, fuel feed, black tip

Question
Started fine this morning, next time I tried to start, it acted as if it was flooded or out of fuel.  Fuel was low.  Left it for about half an hour, then tried again.  Started fine, drove to gas station, filled it up and the exact same thing happened again.  Ideas?

Answer
Hi Jimmy,

could be spark or ignition related.  Spark plugs, wires even coilpack and alternator may be causing this problem.  Rare to have fuel feed failure more likely spark related.

When was the last time you changed the spark plugs or wires?  Have you recently washed the engine?  If you are able, check a spark plug to see if its soaked in fuel.  Is the tip of the plug black and sooty or caramel to grey in colour?

Black tip indicates weak spark, caramel to grey indicates good spark.

Find a mechanic who can monitor the spark and test the coilpack.

Best of luck,
