Land Rover Repair: Freelander oil change, knuckle buster, passanger side

Could you tell me if it is possible to change the oil and filter on a 1998 K series petrol Freelander without removing the engine undertray I'v been told it can be changed by removing the wheel and side tray on the passanger side which would be quicker and easier. Thanks for your help.

Hi N,

could be done but it looks like a knuckle buster job.  Would save you all that work lowering and raising the underbelly panel.

Drain plug is closer but oil filter could be tricky.  Its worth a try.  Let me know if you are sucessful or not. I'm sure other Freelander owners would be interested to know.
