Land Rover Repair: 2000 RR security has locked me out?!, volumetric alarm, holding nothing

Question
My 2000 Range Rover every now and then seems to go into a lock-down and i can't do anything to get the alarm to turn off, except wait until the next day where it then seems to work normally. I've changed the battery, I have done the 1left, 5right, 1left, 5right. I have done hold the unlock button while turning, and then hold the lock button while holding. NOTHING, NOTHING, AND NOTHING.

Is this what is called superlocking the car?? If so how do i unlock it and how did i "superlock" it?

Answer
Hi Steve,

superlock prevents any door from opening when the locks are engaged.

You can activate superlock two ways (according to LR):

1.  Key Superlocking is when a double turn of the key in a clockwise direction (i.e. towards the front of the vehicle) within 2 seconds, provided the doors, tailgate and bonnet are closed, will result in all the doors being superlocked. The alarm will enter the perimetric mode, engine crank will be disabled and electronic engine immobilisation will be activated.

2.  Remote Superlocking is with a double press of the lock button on the remote handset within 2 seconds, provided the doors, tailgate and bonnet are closed, will result in all the doors being superlocked (subject to ultrasonic look around – see Ultrasonic Sensor). Providing all the windows are closed, the perimetric and volumetric alarm will be set. If all the windows are not closed, then only the perimetric alarm will be set. Engine crank will be disabled and electronic engine immobilisation will be activated.

Testbook (at LR dealer) could reveal the state of your security problem.

I would check each of the door sensors and hood switch to make sure they are not falling prey to corrosion, dirt and grime.  I've lost 3 of my door sensors to this over the years.  The door sensors can play havoc with the security system. Check the wires behind to make sure no shorts exist.

Best of luck,
