Land Rover Repair: not starting or running rough, rangie, foot on the gas

Question
couple days ago, my 91 RR started acting very weird... I was driving on freeway around 65mph, and the engine started misfiring and choking. I thought that this is a small RR joke and did not pay attention (cause I take care of my truck ver well). I drove the truck for couple days like that and the misfiring and choking started getting worse. so I checked the distributor cap and rotor and decided to change them.
After changing cap and the rotor, truck ran perfectly for couple days and yesterday, it started misfiring and choking again. I checked plugs and plug wires, and everything seemed OK. So today, I thought my rangie is not getting enough fuel and pulled the fuel pump apart and try to clean it as much as I can and tested it before I dropped it back in.
Engine runs very rough right now, and when I give some gas, it starts choking. And if I keep my foot on the gas pedal, after chokig for 5-10 seconds it just revs up and runs ok.
Is there anything else that I need to do or check?

Answer
Hi Orchun,

perhaps your problem is not the fuel portion of the ignition but the spark.  You've replaced the cap and rotor, nice, wires and plugs seen good but what about your coil?  Are you getting enough spark.  Not enough spark will give you the same symptoms you've described.

Have you coil tested.  Determine if you have a spark amplifier module (just beside the distributor).  That's about all I can think of...it must be spark related.

Best of luck,
