Question

One more question.  I recently had my LR serviced (not at the dealer) and the Service Engine Soon light came on the other morning while I was driving to work.  Is there a way I can reset it?

Thanks,

JF

Question -
I have a 2000 Land Rover Discovery and my driver door won't lock/unlock with my key.  I had the same thing happen about a year ago with the two doors on the passenger side.  I had them fixed, but it cost me dearly.  I have heard of other people having this problem.  Have you?

Hi Jim,

the power door locks on most LR's have various problems.  Most of them have to do with the security system and the remote key fob.  I've rarely heard about keys not working...except for the rear door.  I gave up trying to use my key back there about 4 years ago.

Do you routinely lubricate the keyhole?  Most locksmiths can free up the key 'tumbler' and provide you with the correct lubricant.  Unless its the latch that's causing you the problem.  It can be adjusted but you'd have to remove the interior panel and finely turn an adjustment piece.

LR once charged me $120 to inform me that I'll need new door locks...the locks were $240 each.  No thanks.

Best of luck,

Answer
Hi Jim,

ahhh, yes.  The emissions reminder light...yes, it can be reset.  Go to the following website for instructions:

www.discoweb.org

Look in the TECH section and scroll down to the RESET Service Engine light.  IT has good instructions and photos too.

Best of luck,
