Answer
Hi Shiv,

small world...I'm from London originally.

Yes, you can save a bundle by doing the oil changes and such locally.  You should visit the local LR dealer to establish that you are the new owner.  This way, LRNA knows your address and can send you any important info (like recall notices) and service reminders.

To pay $200 for an oil change...sorry, not this owner.  Some dealers will treat you differently if you don't maintain the warranty service schedule.  I'd talk to the dealer and see what is REALLY important and what can be done at a local Mr.Lube.  This will also give you a valuable impression of the dealership.  Are they open and accommodating or is it strictly cash.

I did a couple of maintenance appointments and decided that the $600 for a complete fluid change was too much.  I've done the rest myself the past 5 years.

I think the SRS system check is a good time to visit the dealer...that's once in 10 years for my Disco.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
