Land Rover Repair: 99 DIsco vibrating, wheel alignment, general mechanics

Question
Our 99 Disco series 1 is acting up.  When traveling at 25-35 mph there is alot of vibration in the vehicle.  It has been below freezing the past few days, and we do not have a garage.  THe vibration usually stops when traveling speeds above 40 mph, but continues to vibrate at lower speeds. ANy ideas on what the problem could be?

Jessica,

I forgot to mention that you should inspect the swivel hub on your wheels.  Make sure there's no leakage.  LR uses a grease product that is not suppose to leak but it can ouze its way out.

As for cold temperatures...I live in Quebec, Canada and my Disco is outside 24/7.  I just make sure the engine block heater is plugged in every night during the winter.  The doors are the most sensitive to the cold.  Some days they open, other days to don't.  oh, well...

Hi Jessica,

could be tires, wheel alignment, balljoints, air shocks, steering assembly.  Most general mechanics can verify this.

Send me a followup and describe the vibration in more detail...side to side, steering wheel only, entire Disco or just front wheels ...

Best of luck,

JohnMc
