Land Rover Repair: 93 Rangie...AIr Susp. fuse problem.., range rover air suspension, thermal overload

Hi John,
Selling my 93 LWB...and the day the buyer arrives the suspension quits!  Tracked it down to the 30 amp Maxi fuse under the pass. seat...New fuse just blew also. Trying to figure out...what else runs off that fuse ? and / or... what else could be causing it to blow ?  thx for any help....Geo

Hi George,

here's what I found out for you:

Could it be a problem with the suspension compressor?  Older pumps eventually become inefficient and run far too long, generating heat and tripping the thermal overload.

Its also possible that wheel potentiometers become out of adjustment and constantly override each other in high/low
low/high loop, making the pump run for even longer and getting even hotter.  Again, tripping the thermal overload.

Eventually, the pump motor's thermal overload device will refuse to reset and it cannot be bypassed.

Cure for your car - A new air pump and reconfiguration of the potentiometers.
