Land Rover Repair: valve job, valve job, cylinder misfire

Question
i have a 99 disco 2 with 57k, and ever since i got it around 56k and and its been pretty sluggish, especially uphill. i wanted to know if i could get a valve job that wont break the bank. and if i dont do  it at all can it lead to other problems

Answer
Hi Bill,

IS your Disco in need of a valve job?  Could it be something else?  If your Disco has been determined to need a valve job, there is little you can do about it.  Some LR dealers are charging well over $2000 for this.

Can you avoid having it done?  No.  You'll run the risk of damaging your engine, tranny and maybe your cats.

Symptoms include intermittent missing or staggering of the engine, usually on long drives and at high speed.  Usually, a check engine light is seen with random misfire codes present, sometimes specific cylinder misfire codes are seen.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
