Land Rover Repair: Shift lever button, shift lever, hey john

Hey John, first of all, thank you for your help with finding why my Discovery was stuck in park ( break light switch). Before i read your colum, i guess i tryed too hard to move the shift out of park, and now i may have bent the shift lever cable ( the one that goes up when pressing the button on the shift ). Its stuck now, you know how can i change that?? Thank you very much again for your help...

Hi Gil,

are we talking about the kickdown cable?

It may be possible to salvage this without replacement BUT you'll have to exceptionally gifted with tools and know the tolerance gaps.  Usually, if its a bent kickdown cable, your Disco has to be raised and the cable removed and replaced.

Take it to a dealer and see if they can fix it without replacement.
