Land Rover Repair: freelander diesel, drain plug, gas tank

Question
she has only driven it a few miles on petrol.
can i just drain tank and blow through line or is it buggerd ? (its a mates car so i only know that its a 2 litre ) and before i drive across england to help her has it got a drain plug on the tank ?

Answer
Hi Tom,

I don't think there's a drain plug on the tank.  You'll have to pump all the fuel out to make sure there is only diesel added afterwards.  Don't think it would harm the engine...just a few miles plus what you have in the lines after you syphon out the petrol.

Not too worry too much...so long as you flush that petrol out of the tank ASAP.

NB:  recently had my gas tank replaced by Land Rover...no mention of a drain plug was given to me by the dealer.  I had to drive around he city untll almost all of the fuel was used up.  A drain plug is nice but not used as far as I know.
