Land Rover Repair: Cant reset Check Engine Light, evaporation system, vacuum leak

Question
Hello,

A few weeks ago I took in my 1998 Discovery because the check engine light came on.  The code was "P1448 Evap loss control system/major leak".  The diagnostic was completed and the result was "no leaks found/possible loose gas cap".  The code was cleared and I got my truck back.  Now the light came on again and I've tried to clear it by unplugging the negative battery terminal but it won't reset (on as soon as the ignition is turned to position II).  Should I just go with it or take it in again to have the code checked?

Thanks,
Jason

Answer
Hi Jason,

is it possible that you are having trouble with your fuel pump or evaporation system?  It make indicate a vacuum leak in the system.  I'd have a LR expert examine this do a more thorough examination.

The fact that the CHECK ENGINE remains on indicates the problem is no longer intermittent.  I would think LandRover should find the problem now.

Best of luck,
