Land Rover Repair: land rover discovery II door panel?, land rover discovery, land rover discovery ii

Question
John,

Please advise on how to remove the door panels on a land rover discovery II...ive tried removing the screws but it seems as though the panel is clipped on...i need to remove the speakers without breaking any clips or the door panels themselves...thank you for your help

Answer
Hi Marco,

should be the same as my Disco I.  Once you've removed all the screws (handle, latch, speakers), you'll need an long slip, thin pry tool to slip in between the metal door and the panel.  Carefully pry up all around the panel - use a soft cloth as a fulcrum.

Pry up all around the panel.  Keep the pry bar moving and slowly and carefully perform this at all the crucial corners of the panel.  The panel is held in by many ribbed plugs (mine are yellow) and the creaking noise is the ribs popping out of the holes.

Go slow...a few mm's at a time. As you carefully spread out the ribs, you should be able to look between the door and panel to see the actual locations of these plugs.  At this point, place the pry tool near the plug and carefully pry away the panel (always moving to balance the distance evenly around the panel.

On my Disco, I am able to remove the speaker from the panel without taking the panel off.  Once the speaker screws are removed, I pull out the speaker and remove the wire clip from the rear of the speaker.  Is that not the way your speaker is?

Best of luck,

JohnMc
