Land Rover Repair: Disco brakes, abs light, diagnostic tool

Question
I have a 96 Disco that needed a caliper replaced. Once done, I bled the lines and the anti-lock brakes do not work properly and the anti-lock light stays on. Any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Robert,

If you take your Disco to a dealer, they can determine what caused the ABS to trigger a code.  Most likely its a failed sensor in the wheel.  They are suppose to be self adjusting but this can fail - right?

The ABS light has always been a problem for Series I Disco's. Some say the sensor is to fault, others feel that replacing the caliper can cause the ABS ecu to inadequately adjust.  I'm just not sure about this.

LR can read off the code with a 'Testbook' diagnostic tool and locate the problem. This will save you time and money.

Best of luck,
