Land Rover Repair: trailer light, blown fuses, fault hours

Question
i have a 1998 disco the trailer warning light on my dash doesn't light up at all when im towing or notis this a simple case of a blown bulb or could it be something else

Answer
Hi Steve,

interesting question.  Do your tow lights work?  Do you have any blown fuses?

If your tow lights are working but your dashlight is off, then I'd say its a bulb.  You'll have to pop off the main instrument panel dash to get in behind and replace those tiny bulbs.  Its dirty work but possible for DIY guys like us.

If you don't have tow lights, then that's another problem. It could be corroded wires, harness, connector problems...a very dirty job that can take up many hours to trace and then repair.

Let me know if you have tow lights and we'll go from there.  IF you don't have tow lights, I'd suggest you visit the dealer.  I've been there ... tracing down an electrical fault...hours wasted trying to isolate the fault.  For $300, LR solved the problem and cleaned up mess for me.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
