Land Rover Repair: Ignition/Key, sensor switch, start car

Question
Last week brought in 96 Discovery for repair. You could turn key, start car, but car remained in park, could not shift. Had repair of brake sensor and new ignition and key done. Picked up car drove home, today drove to Home Depot can't get new key out of new ignition. Ugh. Dealer suggested shifter sensor switch which was a thought by me but when I picked up the car they had driven it, removed keys, gave me new keys and I put them in when I got there. Whats happenning? I'm not thrilled to have them remove shifter at about 700 to check out sensor.

Answer
you should first get in truck, then turn on key and listen closely when stepping on brake to see if you hear clicking sound, also see if brake lights work if you have no brake lights, need brake switch or some wiring to switch is broken.possible by in shifter.
