Land Rover Repair: Rear Passenger Door lock, range rover sport, door latch

Question
My rear passenger door latch seems to stick, in trying to tinker with it I hit a lever that has permanently locked the door - any suggestions how to undo this silly deed?

I have a 1995 County Range Rover Sport Wagon

Thank you.

Answer
Hi Marie,

there is a small child proof lever that prevents the rear doors from opening from the inside only.  You should be able to open from the outside.

UNLESS

You are talking about another problem.  If the latch has ceased and you cannot open the door from the outside or the inside, you will have to remove the door panel padding, arm rest, latch cover (inside only), plastic protector sheet.  THEN you will have to try and open the door using the control rod.  THIS IS NOT AN EASY JOB.  A LR technician could do this.

It is possible that you have only displaced a rod or that the lock is offset and needs minor adjustment.

Best of luck,
