Land Rover Repair: stuck filler plug, filler plug, liquid wrench

Hi, the filler plug on my 1995 Discovery transfer case is frozen.  I can't get it open.  Any idea's on how i can get it open.

Hi Larry,

normally, 30Nm of torque should open the plug.  

I would clean the area as best as you can.

Use some penetrating fluid like WD40 or Liquid Wrench.  Spray the area liberally and leave it overnight.

If you are very, very careful, you could try heating it up with a small handheld torch. Clean the area and make sure there is nothing that can catch fire.  Use the torch sparingly but heat then try to loosen it.  Use the heat off and on and make sure you have a good grip on the filler plug.
