Land Rover Repair: ABS, TC, Hill Descent Warning Lights, abs light, abs system

Question
In relation to an existing question and your answer on the above subject.  I have a 1999 Series II and had the same light problem.  After a few visits to LR and having codes reset, with the problem persistting, LR discovered that badly worn brake pads could cause a vibration on the wheel and set off those sensors.  The pads were replaced and discs machined and the problem has not reoccured.

Answer
Hi Gerard,

thank for letting me know about your experience with ABS/TC/HDC lights.  I wonder why LR did not pick up on this before?  I've known quite a few LR Disco II owners who've had this problem and none have mentioned badly worn pads and discs.  Then again, few have replied with an absolute fix theory either.

It would make sense that worn discs and pads could be at the root of the "3 lights" problem.  IMO: I have always felt the ABS system was a fault.  I have a series I Disco and my ABS light randomly activates - even after new pads and rotors!

I've made a mental note to inform other series II owners of your experiencee and thank you on their behalf.

Regards,

JohnMc
