Land Rover Repair: Replacement Keys, land rover discovery, discovery series ii

Hello, I have a 1999 Land Rover Discovery Series II.  We are down to 1 key that is VERY worn and the remote keeps falling off of the key itself.  Our local dealer wants $140 for a new key with remote.  Do you know of any places online, etc. that would be cheaper?  Thank you for your help.

Hi Amy,

If you go to your local locksmith, they should be able to help you.  Mine had blank key for the LandRover but could not find a replacement for the remote key fob.  Usually, the fobs are only sold from the dealer.  They say its a security thing.  Now, is that 'financial' security...? hmmm.

They have a great explanation of how the fobs work, were they are located and which one to order.  If you find a local locksmith who can replicate your fob, he'll need this info to set the new fob up...
