Land Rover Repair: 2004 Range Rover wiper problems, software glitch, body control module

Question
Own a 2004 Range Rover. One day the rear wiper just started operating and we were unable to stop it without removing fuse. Of course the rear wiper has a mind of its own and when service is looking it does not do it. They ultimately replaced the steer wheel wiper control which was no help. Now whenver we start the car, the front wiper starts up and if we manually start and stop them, it will stop. We have also notcied the suspension seems to go up and down withhout notice. Any advice or direction?

Answer
Hello Arthur,

It sounds like there is a communication proble between the BCM ( body control module) and The rear wiper ECU (Computer) I know there have been some problems with inoperative wipers. The fix is an update software flash for the BCM. The air suspension again makes me think there is a software glitch in the BCM.

Your dealer should be able to enter the Rover diagnostics and be able to locate any history problems then correct them.

Rovers are fun sometimes. I hate to say sometimes the component has to exhibit a fault big enough to record a problem with the BCM.

I would request a reflash of my Body Control Module.

Any other questions? Drop me a line. Sorry I wasn't much help.

Cheers,

Dave
