Land Rover Repair: 02 freelander, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
i have an 02 freelander with about 53k on it. it is tripping the following codes p0171, p0174, p1470 and p1472, i have replaced two intake hoses that where bad and also replaced the mass air flow sensor. everything i am reading online now says intake manifold. or vim motors. i have found a complete intake plenum and manifolds online for 1100 bucks. i have a funny feeling the the plenum is held to the manifold with O rings is that correct and could that be causing the problems. also how does the plenum remove, i see the four bolts up front but can not see or feel any rear bolts?

Answer
The intake can be frozen really tightly onto the o-rings.  It can take a lot of careful prying to get it loose.  If you want a detailed description of the repair procedure buy a day's access from the factory service support site at www.landrovertechinfo.com

Failed intake motors are a common problem in Freelanders like yours

Good luck with it, and also check the Land Rover articles on my car blog.
