Answer
Hello Perry,

I have a '95 Disco with two manual sunroofs.  The hinges are the main source of problems for this type of sunroof.

As for electrical sunroofs, I remember someone asking about this before.

Yes...For the earlier models, there were tracking problems with the electric sunroofs.  LR became aware of this before the release of the '98 model.  For those earlier models, there tracking adjustments that can be made by the dealer.

Don't think it was a recall but LR had enough complaints to issue a fix:
Technical service bulletin 76/16/97/NAS: kit EGM 100190 repair tracking rail causing excessive rattles.

An owner told me that his LR dealer replaced both sets of rails for his sunroofs - the rattling was that bad!  This was done under warranty many years ago.  The sunroofs had to be removed in order for the new modified rails to be installed.  A good 2 days without the Disco.

Another owner told me that he fixed his rattles by doing the following: (might work for you)

"I cured it by buying small rubber grommets cutting them in half to make rubber washers, removing the screws that hold the trim around the sun-roof on a one by one basis fitting the rubber washers to take up the slack and hey presto...peace!"

So, take your rattled Disco II to your local LR dealer and see if the sunroof repair kit for jammed or rattling rails will work on your Disco.  More recently, I think the kit is referred to as EGM100192 Guide Assy.  It may depend on model and year.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
