Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): chainsaw chain stuck in bar, stihl equipment, stihl 009

Question
I have a near new stihl 009 saw which gets the chain jammed in the bar fairly regularly so that it will not move even under full throttle. It seems to run dry after a while. I have taken it back to the shop twice already but the problem persists. Is this likely to have damaged the chain and/or bar and if so should warranty cover that as part of the fix?

thanks.

Answer
Hello David:

I Like the Stihl Equipment, but I Do Not Purchase them New for the Warranty Reasons. I Usually Purchase them from Pawn Shops and Private Individuals if I See 1 I Need or May Need in the Future. Stihl has the Opinion that their Equipment is the Best and that they Do Not make Mistakes when Building their Equipment.
>>Having Stihl Repair Anything Under Warranty is a Pain in the You Know What. Usually the Dealer that Sold you the Stihl Equipment has to Do Warranty Repairs on the Stihl Equipment at their Cost. I Passed on a Stihl Dealership Due to their Warranty Stipulations.
>>Is the Chain Binding Due to Lack of Bar Oil to the Bar?
>>On Some Chain Saws I have had to Increase the Oil Port Hole Size Slightly Until the Bar is Getting the Proper Oil so the Chain Does Not Heat Up and Stick/Bind to the Bar. I Usually do this by Increasing the Oil Port 1 Size Larger and then Operate the Saw for 15 to 20 Minutes. If the Bar is Not Getting enough Oil that the Chain is Not Sticking/Binding to the Bar, then Increase the Oil Port 1 More Size and Operate the Saw as I did before. I Continue to do this Until the Bar is Getting the Proper Oil and the Chain is Not Sticking/Binding to the Bar.
>>A Good Rule for Chain Saw Oil is; the Oil Tank should be Almost Empty (a little less than 1/2 oz should be left in the oil tank when the fuel tank is Completely Dry) whenever you Run Out of Fuel Mix.
>>Are you Sure you are Not Over Tightening the Chain? You should be Able to Pull Lightly on the Chain (at the mid point of the bar) and the Chain Guide should Just Clear the Bar and Snap Back Into the Bar Groove when Released.
>>I am Curious; What Did the Shop Say About this Problem?
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
