Lexus Repair: 97 ES 300 Radio Removal, factory amps, pioneer speakers

Question
I want to upgrade my sound system using the stock radio; I will install other amplifiers & completely by-pass the factory amps without cutting the existing wires. I would like instructions on how to remove the radio. What do I need to pull first on the console to get to the radio?

Also, where can I get wire harness for the 97 ES 300 to plug into the radio & connect another set to the plug on the wires in the car, so I don't have to cut the existing wires in the car?

Answer
You can't buy a wiring harness. You'll have to splice into it.

Take the connecting harnesses off the factory amp going in & out. Bridge them using wires twisted on the ends & hit with soldier to stiffen them up.
Keep in mind the antenna will hate you. It's a dual-stage antenna, not a single stage. You may have problems with it raising & loewring unexpectidly.

You pull the trim off the bottom of the center console (The wood/plastic piece) It snaps off. There are bolts there. You pull out the center console air vents, there are bolts there. From there you rip the entire center console assembly out.

All face-paltes look like fucking shit LoL! So cut your own with wood, or plan on doing one out of wood in the future. Just sorta a fact of life. ;)

Downlaod the factory service manual on thes econd one to get the wiring diagrams & instructions.

The stock speakers are all 5-10-15w pioneer speakers. They will not like a new head unit. They tend to overdrive them & blow them quite easily.
