Lexus Repair: Brake pads for 2001 RX300 AWD, lexus toyota, toyota repair

Question
Now with 90000 miles I need to replace the brake pads (75%-80% worn per dealer).  Any suggestion as concerns the best type to use ? Is it OK to have this done by a reputable garage (not the dealer?).  There is only one dealer in the town where I live !  Many thanks.

 These are some of the company manufact pads for lexus and toyota: Sumitomo, Akebono.   The price are slightly lower than your typical lexus pads. They would run around $40 for a set of front pads. Make sure have the shop inspect the thickness of your rotors and resurface them.  An independent should be able to tackle this job with not problem.  Don't forget to apply the "Stop Squeal" chemical to keep them from squealing.
