Lexus Repair: Start and idle, lexus dealer, initial phone

Doesn't happen all the time.  Car will start and then die,  Restarts OK if I pump accelerator.   Initial phone contact w/ local Lexus dealer service indicates may be problem w/ "idle motor".  Didn't know there was such a thing.       your advice please          Thanks       Robert

What kind of vehicle Robert?  I'm assuming it's an ES300.  The part that that they are trying to explain to you is the IAC(Idle Air controller). This unit located in the back of your throttle body, Sometimes it would get dirty and stuck open.   Remove your throttle body to clean.   If it doesn't improve, replace it with a new unit.
