Lexus Repair: Relays, lexus ls 400, lexus dealer

Question
I have a 1993 Lexus LS 400.  I was told I could probably replace 2 of the 3 relays on my car - the red and green ones - very inexpensively through the internet.  If this is still "Autoparts.com", when I searched for "relays", the answer was "not in stock at this time.  Check back shortly."  Is there any way to know what that means?  Someone who had worked on the car got the diagnosis after replacing most of the fuses and the dash lights still would not come on nor the driver-side window would work.  Instead of 2 or 3 things after this person tried to fix the car, I now have 16 things that don't work:
Still no Dash lights.  Window still does not work, along with the following things that no longer work:
Side Mirror Control, heat/ac, thermostat, cruise control, radio/tape player, antenna for radio, no interior lighs when driving including gearshift lights, radio, heater controls, only one setting for headlights and both headlights and ugly yellow park lights both are on, no signal lights or blue indicator light when lights on bright, remote on key no longer works, can't get key in lock on rider's side door like something broken off in key hole blocking key from going in (can only unlock car on driver's side).  A mechanic diagnosed that 2 of the 3 relays were gone that make the fuses work.  It is the red and green relays that no longer are any good.  The only one that works is the white.  Does this sound like the mechanic is correct?  The amateau who tried to fix car untangled a "jimmi-rig" he said that had to do with the gear shift--he got dash lights on but could not get gears out of "park".  He had to re-rig it to some extent to get gears to work easily, then is when all these other things stopped working.  I am furious because I didn't ask this amateau to fix the car.  I was just told he could fix it.  I have had to drive the car like this for 2 months because I can't afford to take it to a Lexus dealer or any repair place for that matter.  I was told you may be able to help, but now I find the relays are not available for now.  What do I do?  The car has nearly 200K miles on it, but still runs very well.  Oh, one other thing that I think is wrong are the wind-shield wipers sound different, loud and like they are scaping the glass, almost like scratching the glass, like wipers on a rattle-trap, not the smooth sound I was used to.

Answer
Hello Fran, I have never had to deal with autoparts.com so I am not aware of how they work. As far as your many other problems it sounds like the best thing for you to do is take it to a experienced Lexus shop. It is cheaper in the long run with less problems. It sounds like your car is getting damaged more than fixed at this point. Sorry, I wish I had something to say that could help in your repair but advise is all I have for you.
