Lexus Repair: 91Ls400 tranny problem, lexus service, safemode

Question
Hi there, I have a 91LS 400 with only 20k miles. The car sits for months on end and the other day I took it out and the overdrive light started fashing. The car seems to be down on power aols, almost as if it is staying in A high gear. I had the car towed to a AAMCO and the guy there told me that the fluid was varnished and he was getting a #2 silinoid code. He thought the transmission needed to be rebuild at a cost of 2,200. I can't see how a car with only 20k miles could need a tranny rebuild. I checked the fluid and it was bright pink/red before I had him flush the tranny and replace the fluid. He also said the trans filter liioke good and did not replace it. He said to clear the codes and see if the transmossion comes out of "SAFEMODE".

How do I clear the codes? And could this be as simple as a fuse?  Any help would be very helpful.

Answer
Hello Jeromy, Taking it to AAMCO could do you more harm than good. Flushing the trans can cause more problems and AAMCO I am sure does not even have the proper fluid which only Lexus or Toyota has. Has the fluid been changed every 2yrs per Lexus service requirments? A vehicle that is not run is almost worse off than one that is. Running the vehicle keeps the seals and parts lubed and so they will not dry out or deteriorate. Try disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes this may clear the codes also.
