Lexus Repair: 2002 RX300 High Brake light Bulb, indicator light, light bulb

Question
I replaced the bulb but the Indicator Light on the dash is still on. How do I get that to turn off?

Answer
The bulb indicator should not be on if all of the taillight bulbs work.  There is no reset procedure other than turning the key off and then on.  A good way to determine if it is your brake lights, or your taillights is as follows:

1. Turn the headlights to the off position.

2. Start the vehicle, it has to be running for the indicator circuit to operate.

3. Press the brake pedal.  If the indicator comes on, you have a brake light out.  If so have someone stand behind you and make sure all four of the bulbs are working, plus the high bulb.

4. If it didn't come on during step 3, turn the headlights on.  If it did, you may want to cycle the key and do this step first to make sure you don't have a taillight bulb out as well.

You may have a bulb out on each side making it seem like everything is working correctly.

If you are 100% sure all the bulbs work, you may have to replace the taillight indicator control unit, but I would suggest you replace all four bulbs with the high mount before you do that.

Please let me know what you find.
