-----Question-----
When I turn on the heat, i get just cold air for approx 20 minutes, then it will finally kick in. Is this a thermostat problem?
-----Answer-----
Hi Dave,

It could be, does the temp gauge work and does it show the car is at proper operating temperature? If the gauge shows cold for a long period of time then I would say that the thermostat is stuck open.

Answer
Hi Dave,

And those Pats! 40-7! Love it. Sure miss Boston. I think, and I wish I had that car here to check it, that the heater core might be clogged. I suggest, before we go throwing parts at it, that we flush the system. The sell coolant system flush kits at your local parts house, Wal-mart, etc... Follow the directions making sure the heat is set on max. Rear too if you have rear heat. Replace the anti-freeze and retest. Let me know how it turns out, but I think this is the problem. If this doesn't do it, I have the directions with pictures to replace the thermostat.
