Lincoln/Mercury Repair: the left side widow controller, lincoln town car, switch panel

 Hello, i bought a 1984 lincoln town car and so far i have not hads any major problems, but just today when i went to put up the drivers side front and rear window, nothing happened !!!  i can hear the moter in the drivers side rear window(but it will neither go up or come down) and when i try to put up the front window...nothing, no sound, no movement, nothing.  the controls work for the rightside front and back, but not for the left front and back.  HELP !!!! this is my first car, and i want to drive it home, from Georgia to Ohio for the holidays !!!

Based on what you are describing, the rear window has a bad register. The metal and plastic part that holds the glass. There is probably a stripped gear in there. The front is either a bad motor or a bad switch. You can pop out the switch panel and using a VOM check the switch. If the switch checks out, replace the motor.
