Lincoln/Mercury Repair: A/C Fan Motor Controls, fan speed control, grand marquis

Question
I have a 2000 Grand Marquis with climate control. The fan motor has run and then quit and run on another occasion and now quit again. I unplugged the wires at the fan motor and no current. i ran a jumper from battery to fan and it ran fine. I hear the climate control clicking like it's trying to turn the fan on and when I move the manual fan speed control. I suspect it's something between the climate control and the motor that's causing the problem. What do you suggest? Thanks for your help.

Answer
I think I would look at the automatic tempeture control modual. Part number 1W7Z19980AA. Pricey little guy at $562. Book gives .9 of an hour to install.

There could be a short, but I am fairly certain on this. You might try a "pre-owned" one from your local wrecking yard. They still might want around $200 for it.
