Lincoln/Mercury Repair: brake line repair, double flare, flaring tool

Question
96 Sable, replacing a section of brake line.
I have the fittings, one of them continues to leak. I have redone the end twice and it still leaks.
I have  flaring tool, but it does not make a double flare. Do I need a double flare?
Do I use pipe tape on the connections?
Any other suggestions?
The other line does not leak. Thanks, Rick

Answer
Hi Rick,

Run down to your local auto parts house and ask for a couple of compression fittings. These are what we have been using for years.

Hey Rick, why the 5? If you were repairing it correctly, you wouldn't need me to tell you to go get the right fittings. With compression fittings you don't flare the line! And you don't need pipe tape on anything in a car...
