Hi..
I have a 1997 Lincoln Town Car and when I click the remote to unlock the doors the lights also would go on at night automatically. Now when I click on the remote, the doors unlock but, the lights will not come on. When you open the door the inside lights do come on and when you start the car the headlights come on. Could you please help me with this problem? Could it just be the remote?  Thank You.

Hi Rosie,

All I come up with is the inside lights will come on and the keyhole will light up but not the headlights.

Answer
Hi Rosie,

Check to see if the settings where changed. You can get this info in your owner's manual. I know my Navigator does not turn on the headlights, only the inside lights and my runningboard lights. I can't find anything on this in my files. The info I have, which I agree, could be incorrect but they only state the inside lights and keyhole in your car will come on with the key fob. Check to see that the auto light feature is turned on. That the delay is at maxium and there is no light shinning in the front window likewise nothing on the dash that would block a sensor.

Hi Rosie,

I spent an hour tonight looking to find any further info on this. I couldn't find anything that makes the headlights come on automatically other than starting the car with the autolamp on. They use a lighting control modual to work all the lights on the car and I did see where the keyless entry sends a signal to this device. It possibly could be malfunctioning, but I can't confirm it. I just found that the interior lights have it's own modual, so there is a possibilty that the "lighting control" modual is malfunctioning and could possibly need to be replaced. Part number F7VZ13C788AA, availible at your local Ford dealer for $402.67 and book time calls for .6 of an hour (36 minutes) to install.

REMOVAL

Remove lower driver side instrument panel.
Locate lighting control module above accelerator pedal.
Disconnect four electrical connectors.
Unclip from bracket.
Remove lighting control module

Replace and reverse procedure.

Hope this helps
