Question -
It doesn't matter if we are going fast or slow, there is this strange noise when the tach hits 1500 rpms...the transmission runs perfectly smooth when shifting, so don't think it is that, could it be a muffler/tail pipe problem?

Answer -
Hi Sharon,

Does this noise happen when you are in park? It sounds like a possible heat shield from one of the cats, or the resinator inside the muffler. Unless the noise is coming from under the hood.

Answer
Hi Sharon,

Yeah, it's definitely the heat shield. Ford has a fix for it, it's a big metal hose clamp. No, I am serious. Or just have a shop remove it. It's safer to have it there, but my shop has fixed as many as we have removed. Just the customers preference. Yes, safe to drive.
