my ac does not work on my 91 sable. i replaced the electronic module to no avail. when you set your ac to run on max the fan is to come on and it does not. the compressor does not start at all. what's the order of what to check ?

You don't have any freon in your system. There is a sensor that looks for freon before it will let the compressor start. This way it doesn't burn up the system. Here's the trick though... If you don't have enough freon to start the compressor, it means your leaking. You will need to run down to your favorite auto parts store (Pep Boys) and get the repair/refill/conversion/leak fixer service kit with DYE. You'll need the dye to see where it's leaking. Once you repair the leak, make sure to top it off. The kit will be R134 and come with some nifty fittings for the DIYer. Don't worry, you don't have to do anything special to run R134 instead of R12, just put it in there.. Make sure your kit comes with a can of lube and that it get's in there first! Lowside fill only.  Have Fun!
