Lincoln/Mercury Repair: car won`t start, inertia switch, blown fuse


Question
i have a 1998 town car that i was having a problem with the fan not coming on,  i change it
the new one came on for just a few sec,then cut off.
also now the car does not starts only cranking over but does not start.
thank for whatever help you can give.

Hi Rain,

Well, this is a tough one, but I believe there is a short and a blown fuse. Check the fuses under the hood first. I believe the fuse for the fuel pump could be bad. The is also an inertia switch in the trunk. If you have hit something or have been hit while parked this switch will kick off and not let the fuel pump come on. As for the fan, I assume you mean the A/C fan inside the car, it could be on the same fuse as the fuel pump. Try this and resubmit so we can try other things if this doesn't solve the issue of no start.
