Lincoln/Mercury Repair: 2002 merc mountaineer, vacuum problem, abs light

Question
my abs light is on and the service engine soon light is on. and the car when I am at a light my car shakes and it has a little bit of a hard time accelerating and a hard time stopping. can you please help.

Answer
The check engine light is triggered by one or more of dozens of DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) being stored in the car's computer. Take it to a place that can scan the data and you should have an easy fix. Cottman Transmissions will do this for free. Of course, knowing what to do with the data is key to a successful repair. After you have your car scanned, re-submit me with the DTCs and we will get this fixed for you. Hope this helps.

Same goes for the ABS light. It might be indicating there is a vacuum problem and this will cause your brakes to be real stiff and your engine run like a dog. I bet that the vac-boost to the power assist unit for your brakes is worn and needs attention. If that line looks ok, then resubmit to me the codes stored.
